WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PRICING & PACKAGES
I firmly believe that wedding photography packages should be an invitation into what fits your needs rather than firm boxes to try and squeeze you to stretch your budget. When you’re booking me as your photographer you won’t pay for any extra inclusions you don’t want.
I have couples who are having tiny backyard weddings on Wednesday afternoons and need me for a couple of hours. And I love those celebrations. I have couples who want me to fly interstate and internationally to capture the whole weekend away with their friends at their destination weddings. Whether you want me to photograph you setting up your wedding venue & decorating the day before the wedding. All the way through to a road trip to some mountains for some extra portraits the day after your wedding. Or you just want me for a few hours for a really intimate celebration. I will build a package that suits your specific needs.
Choosing what inclusions you need for your wedding package can be tricky and it can be tempting to just want to “book whatever everyone else gets.” And you shouldn’t feel silly for not knowing what you’ll need. For the most part this is probably your first time figuring out what wedding photography needs you’ll have. That’s what I’m here for too. I always sit down with my couples in person, or via Skype and ask you some questions to help understand what things are most important to you both to capture. No wedding and no couple are the same.
Every story is unique and I promise to treat your story as such.
For some of my couples getting ready photos are super important. Maybe they’re having a first look, away from all the eyes and creating a really beautiful memory of the first moment they lock eyes on their wedding day. Maybe the moments the father of the bride first sees her walk out of the room in her dress and bursts into tears is one of the most valuable photos you can think of on the day. Maybe you’re less about the getting ready and all about the dance floor at the end of the night. Not everyone will have the budget or the desire to have wedding photography for the entire day from morning till midnight and that’s ok. We’ll build a wedding photography package that’s just right for you.
“EVERY STORY IS UNIQUE AND I PROMISE TO TREAT YOUR STORY AS SUCH”
WHAT MAKES A GOOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW
I actually care, potentially too much about your wedding day, and perhaps even more so, your marriage. A distant third to that, is your wedding photos. The photographs themselves won't matter at all if those other two aren't great. So I love to encourage everyone to really focus on firstly their relationship, which is the first building block of great wedding photos. And secondly, their wedding celebration itself.
If your wedding day is super stressful and poorly organised and it's not very “you” you're going to be a bit tense and worn out and it's going to show up on your face, which guess what. Will feature heavily in your wedding photos. I cannot photoshop stress out of your wedding photos.
So. I've spent a fair bit of time over the years taking notes on what goes well and what doesn't from a decade of being a professional third wheel. And whether your having your wedding on the gold coast or anywhere else in this beautiful country I have put together some pretty useful resources to help your day go really smoothly. Which I'll link to a little lower on the page.
THE HIDDEN SECRET TO EPIC WEDDINGS
My passion for photography developed around my fascination with human connection. I came very close to studying psychology, if you count needing about 30% higher marks as “close.”
And one thing that I think is often overlooked in the craziness of wedding planning is ALL the relationships that go into that wedding.
We like to say in my generation that your wedding needs to be “you” but in reality a marriage itself isn't made up of just two people. Marriage takes a village just as much as raising a family does.
The people you're inviting into your wedding day are that village. Those hugs and kisses post ceremony, those belly laughs at the best man's speech, those tears when you walk down the aisle. Every bit of that matters for all the years to come. Whatever you do, don't neglect to think about working on the relationships in your village, not just your own.
This may seem like a crazy thought, but maybe you don't need to spend another $750 on having a second photographer so you get more photos.. maybe you could spend some of that money on getting some family counselling so you're dad who you have a really tough relationship with can be there to walk you down the aisle.

SOME COMMON QUESTIONS I GET AS A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
DO YOU NEED TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS AT A WEDDING?
HONESTLY, A GOOD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IS PROBABLY IN FAIRLY HIGH DEMAND AND KNOWS THAT IF YOU TURN THEM DOWN FOR THEIR PRICE THERE WILL PROBABLY BE ANOTHER COUPLE GETTING MARRIED ON YOUR WEDDING DATE WHO VALUE THEIR WORK ENOUGH AND HAVE THE BUDGET TO AFFORD THEM. HOWEVER IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO SAVE SOME MONEY ON YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER SEE IF THEY HAVE A SMALLER PACKAGE WITH LESS INCLUSIONS THAT MIGHT BE IN YOUR BUDGET.
WEDDING ALBUMS ARE ACTUALLY MY FAVOURITE THING TO GIVE TO MY COUPLES.
IT'S SUCH A SHAME WHEN PEOPLE SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON THEIR WEDDING PHOTOS AND THEY JUST END UP LIVING ON A USB SOMEWHERE. PRINT YOUR PHOTOS, MAKE THEM TANGIBLE, TOUCHABLE, REAL. DON'T LEAVE THEM IN CLOUD STORAGE SOMEWHERE TO BE FORGOTTEN. YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER WILL HAVE ACCESS TO BETTER QUALITY PHOTO BOOKS THAN ONES SOLD DIRECT TO THE PUBLIC SO I DO ADVISE PEOPLE WHO WANT THE BEST TO GET IT FROM THEIR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
THE AVERAGE COST FOR A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER IS $4000 THIS NUMBER IS PROBABLY NOT THE MOST ACCURATE HOWEVER AS LOTS OF COUPLES ARE ELOPING THESE DAYS AND ONLY BOOKING THEIR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FOR A FEW HOURS THE AVERAGE PROBABLY COMES DOWN A LITTLE. THERE ARE DEFINITELY CHEAP WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS AND ALSO THOSE WHO CHARGE 10,000 +
ordinarily I'd say most of the time you can get away without two photographers at your wedding.
I typically recommend you get a second photographer when you've got a wedding with over 200 guests or if there's a significant amount of time you'll spend away from the guests during the day and want pictures of them mingling while you'r away.
If you have any more questions about wedding photography, regarless of whether you're considering booking me or not I'm more than happy to hear from you. And even if your question is about something else for your big day, I can recommend wedding catering options, wedding videographers, celebrants and just about anything else you could think of. After being a wedding photographer for 10+ years I've accumulated a lot of knowledge that I love sharing
NICE WORDS I TRY NOT TO LET GO TO MY HEAD
Joshua shot our wedding in Germany in 2019. We have kept looking through the photos throughout the year. Every time we go through them, someone seems to discover a new depth to a photo that we haven’t noticed before. The more we look at them, the more we appreciate his talent of capturing moments with an eye for detail, composition and atmosphere. And it all happened without us even really noticing he was there, thus allowing us to be in the moment. Thanks Joshua!
We were looking for a Photographer that captured raw, honest and beautiful photo's for our elopement in Mullumbimby – when we came across Josh's stunning portfolio we knew he was the guy. Josh was super helpful when we first enquired and continued to be a great touchstone in preparation for the big day. We had a blast hanging out with him on the day and as a photographer made us feel super comfortable and we couldn't be happier with how our Photographs turned out. Highly recommend!
It was awesome having Josh be part of our wedding. He was super easy going and genuine to talk to from the first meeting. More than the incredible photos, he captured authentic subtle moments, was flexible and committed to the day, and pretty sure our grandma is now one of his biggest fans. Josh is a gentleman, top level professional, joker and servant-hearted. Highly recommend.
