Blue mountains weddings like this one just make me want to up root my house and move to the mountains. The blue mountains in Australia might not be the steepest mountains in the world but they absolutely have a charm of their own. Emily & Jesse had perhaps the most epic wedding I can remember in recent memory.

The ceremony was held at Emily’s parents stunning property in Rydal, which you can stay at through airbnb. Then on to the reception which was the first ever wedding held at The Foundation’s Portland. Which is a crazy epic industrial space in Lithgow. The Foundations was formerly known as Portland Cement works and the huge cement silo’s were painted with giant murals by artist, Guido Van Henlten. The Foundations has largely been used for creative markets and pop up events but Emily & Jesse were lucky enough to be the first ever couple to use the space for their wedding.

The incredible industrial space was made only more epic by the insane styling from She Designs which was the wildest styling I think I’ll ever see at a wedding. Sheree told me that the bump in for this wedding took over a week! I absolutely lost count of the chandeliers, the lighting installations and huge hanging floral magic that just littered the room. To make a space of this size look as full and beautiful as she did is just an immense feat of creativity and persistence, not to mention some incredible collaboration from Emily & Jesse to make it all possible.

This entire beautiful property belongs to Emily’s folks and they rent the cottages out as stunning airbnb’s which I highly recommend you checkout if you’re looking for a Blue Mountains getaway. It’s always such an incredible opportunity to photograph at locations that have a real connection for the couple. Whether that’s on a family property or just a location that holds a special significance for them, (somewhere they’ve been on special dates etc). The property itself is absolutely wild, from the huge weeping willow they got married under to the smell of fresh pine needles everywhere. Not to mention the beautiful horses who stuck their heads over the fence to make sure they got a good view of the ceremony.

If you’re watching closely you can see that they had Breakfast at Tiffany’s projected above the bar on repeat for the entire evening. Which was such a unique and lovely touch. Brought a smile to my face every time I snuck away from the dance floor for a sneaky lemon, lime & bitters.

I haven’t shot a lot of weddings with this many guests in quite a while so it was such an interesting shift in energy to have a dance floor with that many people on it. I absolutely adore intimate weddings for so many reasons, but man there’s something about a huge packed dance floor that just won’t quit!
