Sam & Ash Elope at Cradle Mountain. What an epic adventure this was!
“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wildness is a necessity”
― Our National Parks
Sam & Ash. Thank you for choosing to elope at Cradle Mountain. My heart literally feels like bursting every time I get an enquiry for a location like this. Photographing anywhere near a mountain just releases a super stiff dose of creativity for me. Don't get me wrong I have loved more traditional weddings for a long time and will continue to love them. However, there's something truly stunning about stripping away all the fluff. Boiling something so special down to its more distilled essence. Taking it on the road and finding a place that feels like home. Cradle Mountain truly is a little slice of heaven.
I feel as if I can see God's very hands moulding the peaks and rugged rock formations in places like this.
Sam & Ash chose to have a beautifully simple ceremony at the farm they were staying at a little over an hour from cradle mountain. With their witnesses, Sam's best mate & Ash's sister we all jumped in the car headed for Cradle Mountain. The weather around St Claire national park is always a gamble and we went from 26 degrees and a little sweaty on the first part of our climb. Then everything changed. Rain and about 4 degrees with some pretty intense winds that must have been blowing right off the antarctic circle greeted us as we got closer to the top.
These Queenslanders did pretty well considering the temperatures. We still managed to grab some epic shots before rushing back down the mountain and thawing our toes out by a fire.
